Ngorongoro Conservation area offers one of the richest wildlife viewing experiences on the African continent. Situated in the Arusha region of Northern Tanzania, this conservation area in Tanzania is a world UNESCO heritage site. The area allows visitors to sample locally grown and brewed coffee, safari through a crater, and hike up another and walk in the footsteps of early man. Today over 40,000 Masais reside n the area making the Ngorongoro Conservation Area one of the famous places in Tanzania that has garnered most of the tourists. The conservation shares a boundary with the Serengeti National Park and one must drive through the conservation in order to get to the Serengeti.

Best Time To Visit Ngorongoro

The best time to visit Ngorongoro is from June to September which is the peak season and again during the December to February calving season that follows the November rains. For game viewing and wildlife spotting, the month from June to October is the best at animals gather around waterholes. How to Reach Ngorongoro

By Air: The closest airport to Ngorongoro Conservation area is Arusha airport in Arusha town. The most advisable option to fly to Arusha Airport is from Kilimanjaro International Airport. You can also fly to Nairobi, Kenya and then board a shuttle bus to Arusha.

By Road: The road from Arusha to Lodoare Entrance Gate is 160km long. The entire journey is on tarmac and it takes about two hours to reach the Ngorongoro conservation area. A 4×4 vehicle is essential when entering the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and the Serengeti National Park.
