Best Time To Visit Queen Elizabeth National Park

Queen Elizabeth National Park is open all year long so you can visit anytime of the year.  For wildlife viewing, the park is at its best from January to February and from June to July which is usually the dry season in Uganda.  During the dry season, you can spot many animals that are drawn to nearby water sources. This is the peak season where you can find tourists exploring the national park. However, during wet season from March to May and August to December is the best if you wish to explore the park.

Game Drives

The main highlight of Queen Elizabeth National Park is you can indulge in various game drive activities that will allow you to get up close and personal with the animals. The best time to enjoy the game drive is during morning hours where you can come across the most elusive of park’s fauna. Boat Cruise

Apart from watching wildlife, you can choose to go for a boat cruise that takes place on the Kazinga channel. This is a long natural water channel that links to Lake Edward to Lake George. See the tree climbing lions

Not every day you will see a lion climbing trees, but in the Ishasha sector of the national park, you will come across many of them on the top of the resting and relaxing. This portion of the park houses lions that are perched up on acacia and fig trees which is complete sight to behold. Apart from the amazing tree climbing lions, Ishasha sector is home to other variety of animals such as buffaloes, elephants, warthogs and antelopes which can be seen roaming around freely in the area

Chimpanzee tracking

Home to abundance of chimpanzees, Queen Elizabeth National Park is famous for its chimpanzee tracking which has garnered tourists from all walks of life. The Kyambura Gorge inside the park is well known as the valley of apes and you can see variety of chimpanzees roaming around freely in their natural habitat. You can choose to go on a chimpanzee tracking tour where you will be escorted by professional guides who will tell you all about the place and the apes

How to Reach Queen Elizabeth National Park

The national park can be easily accessed from Kampala. From there you can board bus from the old or the new bus park that goes to Kasese. Get down on the way as the bus passes through the national park. You can also travel to Entebbe International airport and from there hire a taxi or a cab that will take you directly to the park.
