The park covers 73 square miles that not only includes the lake, but also savannah, forests and swamps, and the southern end of the park also encompasses the Makalia Falls. Lake Nakuru national park has sub humid to semi arid climate which means it is n not too wet and not too dry, or too hot or cold. The best month to visit the park is from July to September and January to March. Another great thing about this park is it’s fenced, so even during the wet months you will see wildlife because they cannot migrate away from the park.

Lake Nakuru national park is located 155km northwest of Nairobi and 5km from Nakuru town. Nakuru is an easy destination by car via a tar road from Nairobi.
By Road: Lake Nakuru national park is easily accesible via road. Use your own, take a public transport or a safari van tour that will take you directly to the gates of the national park. If you are traveling from Nairobi, then take the Nairobi-Nakuru highway. On the way to Nakuru you will have a great view of the Rift Valley, so drive slow and enjoy the scenery
By Air: If you choose to fly, Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi is the closest to the park. It is about 25 minutes away and you can board the flight from there that will directly take you to the Naishi airstrip inside the park.
