Itinerary
Begin your Rovos Rail tour with your departure at Capital Park. The train journey through the stunning landscape of South Africa allows the visitors to explore the hidden gems of the place. Lunch will be served as you pass through Heidelberg. The trains will then leave Vooruitsig and continue to travel above sea level as it traverses through historic Majuba Hill. This famous attraction in South Africa was the final battlefield of the first Anglo-Boer War and was approximately an year long conflict between the Boers and the British. You will then arrive at Elandslaagte for an overnight stop.
Enjoy tea, coffee, juices and pastries in the dining car before you head out on a game drive in the Nambiti Private Game Reserve. Situated in a malaria free region, Nambiti game reserve is blessed with waterfalls, diverse landscapes and abundant wildlife that will make your journey more memorable. Enjoy amazing game drive safaris that will allow you to get closer view of the endangered species. Later return to your train as you head off to Estcourt. You will stop down here for a 40 minute drive to Spionkop Lodge where you can choose for two different excursions- the escorted tour of the battlefields or another game drive in the Spionkop Game Reserve. After your tour, return to the train in time to enjoy sumptuous dinner and overnight stay.
Today, the train departs from Estcourt and you can enjoy breakfast inside the train. Move towards Lions River Station which you will arrive at 10h00. Make your visit to the famous Ardmore Ceramics Gallery. This gallery is situated on the foothills of Drakensberg Mountains and boasts of amazing work by Fée Halsted. On arrival at the gallery, you can see beautiful collections of their work and get to learn about the place. After your tour, enjoy some tea while overlooking the River and return back to the train at 12h00. Lunch will be served inside the dining car as you pass through the stunning valley of Thousand Hills. Complete your journey by departing at Durban station at 16h00.
